In October 2015, momentum was building against the imprisonment of over 200 children in offshore detention in Nauru.
Hundreds of doctors and allied healthcare workers from the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, as well as doctors in Adelaide, Mebourne and Darwin, have come together to protest against immigration detention for child refugees and asylum seekers. Many medical students in various schools joined them in support.
In early November, GlobalHOME gave nearly 100 Sydney University medical students a chance to do the same, and stand together in support for our medical colleagues and those in detention.
The event was written up in the Green Left Weekly and shared on social media under the hashtag #KIDSOUT and #DetentionHarmsChildren
